Lattice Quilt

All done!  It was quilted by Nancy with a pretty loop in lime green thread.  :)  I finished it over the weekend while we traveled to Spearfish.  It has found a home on our couch.  The idea of the inserting the oatmeal blocks came from here.

Labor Day Fun

After the chaos of losing our truck (it sounds like it is going to be repaired...yay!) for the next 3-4 weeks, we were still able to head out to Spearfish to spend time with family and take a break.  We left after church on Sunday and were able to spend the evening at the lake, where I managed to take an AMAZING photo of Timothy (don't ask me to do it again):

I think he was excited to sit in the big boy chair.  :)

And where he also learned the fine art of throwing rocks into the lake with grandma:

Monday was the family gathering (of which I have no photos), but we had a Taco Bell picnic in the park that evening and afterwards, Timothy practiced his newly honed skill in Spearfish Creek:

We had to head back early on Tuesday morning because Jared needed to get back in the office, but let me assure you that Timothy had a very long nap on the way home.  :)

Today's Haul

8 zucchini ~ 11 cucumbers ~ pile o' beans ~ 27 tomatoes

The beans and tomatoes from the past few days are destined to a lesson in pressure canning with my mother-in-law (I am really excited!) and the rest are coming with us to a family gathering.  The giant zucchinis have your name on them Kim!  ;)

We are happy with our crop thus far...we could do with less cucumbers at this point, but they are completely entwined with the pumpkins, so we just keep picking and the end up at church on Sunday morning for adoptions.  :)  Looking forward to the squash coming in; 2 butternuts in already, but 7 that are really close and many more that are a couple of weeks away, 4 buttercups in and 3 more to go, 3 pumpkins, 2 of which are done but killing time on the vine.  Yippee for squash roasted and in soups!

Oh deer

Thursday morning we were headed to Sioux Falls for a couple of doctor's appointments and, well, we never made it.  Praise be to God that the car did what it was supposed to do and protected our family, but the deer did not fair as well.  We are still waiting on the verdict about the truck.  :(
